That Whole Stimulus Thing Didn’t Turn Out Well

Three years ago yesterday, Obama signed the Non-Stimulus Stimulus package and accomplished absolutely nothing beyond a $787 billion dollar hole in the ground.  It’s cold comfort that we were able to get rid of Arlen Specter because of it, but otherwise he’s not worth nearly that much.  Olympia Snowe also voted for that blighted thing, but sadly, her primary opponent does not appear to be gaining much traction.

And after all of this, we put the Republicans back in the House majority only to get things such as the debt ceiling capitulation from them.

But before you write off the whole party, take a step back and see what’s actually happening.  The Establishment Republicans are as useless as they’ve always been, but they aren’t the whole party.  You can, and should, differentiate the Republicans who are actually attempting to do the jobs you sent them to do from the garbage.  These are the ones worth supporting, and if supporting them to the exclusion of all others is what it takes for you to show up in 2012, that makes two of us.  Vote around the rest if you can’t be bothered to hold your nose for them again, like me, but don’t neglect those who are actually fighting for you.
