Want to know a really self-destructive way to spend $26 million? Well, if you’re a natural gas company that’s hit every branch of a stupid tree on the way down, give it to the Sierra Club. That’s what Chesapeake Energy did in order to get them to go after coal-fired power plants.
Here’s a clue. The Sierra Club doesn’t hate just the coal industry. It hates all forms of practical power production, domestic energy development in general, and construction in various forms. They’re also not fond of things like private property, and if they ever get their way, they’ll turn the US into a green hell. So once they’re done with the coal industry, they’ll likely be coming for natural gas. Oh wait, they already hate fracking…
How many frivolous lawsuits will that $26 million fund? The profits they eliminate with that money next may well belong to Chesapeake Energy. For funding their enemies, they at least will deserve it.
