1.) Al Gore compared the fight against global warming to the civil rights movement. I suppose that’s true, if you don’t take into account that the comparison is total rubbish. Besides that, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Two big problems here. One, Martin Luthor King, Jr. was fighting against a real problem. Nobody caused the racial equivalent of Climategate about people being forced to ride in the back of the bus, or “separate but equal.” The problem of unequal rights actually existed.
Second, King didn’t protest racial inequality only to cause it when no one was supposed to be looking. Gore protests global warming, then flies around in a private jet and lives in mansions. King died for his cause, while Gore puts his on the shelf when he’s not making speeches in blisteringly cold weather.
The fact Gore compares his scam of choice to the real fighting the good fight of MLK is frankly insulting.
2.) The next bit of news is a heartwarming five minutes caused by a Tea Party freshman forcing an EPA bureaucrat to admit job losses aren’t considered in rule analysis.
The video is painful to watch, but it’s worth it.
Frankly, the news that the EPA doesn’t consider job-killing when it makes rules surprises me as much as learning that water is wet. The agency should have its actual environment-protecting functions rolled into the Department of the Interior before it’s repealed. There’s real environmental protection, and there’s the bureaucrat-inspired, economy-destroying scope creep spun as environmental protection that these idiots do.
Leave the real protection, and discard the idiots.
They’ll be plenty more eco-stupid as the Obama administration rollsforward with the Great American Rude Awakening. Bet the Democrats are loving the fact they have to explain this guy in the next election cycle too. All that remains now is to keep the Republicans from nominating a RINO, and we can get rid of him in 2012.
