McCain Hasn’t Crossed the Finish Line Yet

By now, the Arizona primary has come and gone.  McCain’s $21 million dollar bashing of Hayworth bought him the nomination, which he fought harder to attain than he ever did against Obama.  McCain had his victory speech and Hayworth conceded.

I read conservatives being defeated, a few condescending McCain and Republican loyalists (probably staffers) trying to shame us into helping elect him, and the occasional liberal calling this a Tea Party loss.  The bottom line though is that everyone is missing the point.

McCain hasn’t crossed the finish line yet.

He won the nomination, but he still has to get elected in November.  Since I suspect more than a few of us are thinking it, let’s get the ball rolling right now.  McCain is mislabeled Democrat, does not deserve our support, and needs to be defeated in the general.

It’s not as though I’m the first person to bring this up, and the reaction by McCain supporters is pretty much all they have.  “We’re whining” and “we’re childish” because we don’t want to support a RINO hack.  Some guilt trips about how we should be ashamed because our attitude elected Obama.  What else do they have but marginalization and social engineering tactics?  It’s not like they can sell him on the merits.

Don’t like what you’re reading, or sitting on the fence?  Granted, this suggestion is hardly mainstream, but it’s the choice you have now.  To defeat McCain in the general, you’re going to have to make a hard-to-swallow decision.  Actively oppose him for two months and most likely deal with a Democrat who cannot undermine a Tea Party based Republican caucus from within, or re-elect him and be forced to actively oppose him for six years as he makes you jump time and again.

You know who McCain is.  He just spent $21 million dollars demonstrating his waffling and utter contempt for conservatives.  So now, you can think outside the box and replace him with a properly labeled Democrat (or a Libertarian) who can do less damage on the outside than McCain can do from within, or re-elect him and wish you had.
