Much to my chagrin but not my surprise, Obamacare passed the House. Also not to my surprise, I started seeing the “historic” references in the newspapers today. Obama and Pelosi are all gloating now, but my advice to those who are having trouble with it is to not be dismayed or angry.
Yes they can gloat…briefly.
Then, the bill gets signed into law. To many Americans, it will be like waking up due to an airhorn blast in the face. If they weren’t engaged before, they will be soon.
Some of what will happen next can be predicted. Layoffs, higher taxes, and people with less money trying to get through a down economy that won’t be recovering while Obama is in office. And while the plan is to force a collapse of private insurance in order to get single-payer, take some comfort in the fact liberal plans aren’t known for working well.
Also take some comfort in the fact American businesses have just received a harsh reminder of what happens when you dance with the devil. Or in this case, the thuggish socialist ideologue from Chicago. I doubt they’ll be eager to do it again.
But let the Democrats enjoy their momentary victory, and some additional good news. When they go back to their districts and think everyone hates them while life as they know it may be permanently changed, it’s not a sign of paranoia or mental collapse. We really are thinking of ways to repay this for this a la Ben Nelson and his virtual exile (which should only get worse now that this passed), and possibly before November.
So let them have a nice day. It won’t last much longer.
I’d like to see a petition against Sean Hannity started; SEND THE OLD RINO McCAIN OUT TO PASTURE! Sean keeps saying he’s such a conservative but keeps on giving McCain air-time. ENOUGH ALREADY! I love most of what Sean does, but tranquilze the old Rino and send him far, far away.
Most people I talk to can’t stand John (don’t use Obama’s middle name) McCain.
I just quit listening to Hannity myself.
Take some comfort in the fact that all of McCain’s efforts don’t seem to be helping him. He’s dropped from a 22% lead to 7% over Hayworth, and if Hayworth starts running ads showing McCain being all lovey-dovey with the Democrats, especially during the Obama campaign, it won’t get anything but worse for The Mavericky One.
