After all this time, I’ve come to the conclusion that I may have given McCain and those in his sphere of influence too much credit.
I honestly thought the man had a plan, cynical though it was, and that he was running it. Then I see things that would lead me to believe that he’s either just a really lucky incompetent, or he can throw so much brute force at an election he doesn’t need wits. If so, this is good for him since he doesn’t appear to have any.
- Crist, McCain’s pick in Florida, is down in the polls after suffering better than a fifty point swing inflicted by his opponent, Marco Rubio. As a result, he decided to attack Rubio over back waxing. The incident is so warped, the Democrats made an ad about it, and have some fun at both their expenses.
- Carly Fiorina, one of McCain’s economic advisors, ran Hewlitt-Packard into the ground. Her claim to political fame is an ad that was so awful, it went viral as a commentary on her gross lack of judgment. It’s the ad that made the term “demon sheep” part of the political lexicon.
- Lindsey Graham is trying to revive the Gang of 14 over reconciliation and Obamacare. As we had all been screaming for years, Democrats don’t reciprocate goodwill from Republicans. So he’s not getting any takers, and he looks like the complete fool he apparently is. I expect him to learn nothing from this incident.
- It’s also why I called Graham the Designated Dumbass in a previous post. There’s reason to believe McCain is having him do all the mavericky stuff so he can run in Arizona and have his maverick too without putting his fingerprints all over it. I’m guessing it didn’t occur to him that Graham’s actions can be painted onto any RINO, or that anyone who doesn’t like him can retaliate by throwing their support behind Hayworth or anyone else running against any RINO in a primary. It also hasn’t occurred to McCain that if he spends a year or so playing second fiddle to his own lapdog, Graham may not just simply leave the top spot of “MSM’s favorite Republican maverick” should McCain win re-election. And since McCain has been all Republican all the time over the past year and a half in an attempt to get re-elected, the MSM may not run back to him either.
I’m really starting to wonder if I’ve been out here in tinfoil hat territory. McCain honestly struck me as a more formidable political mind than this. Still, if he’s this dumb after all, it just makes things that much easier.
