A Modest Proposal: Ditch Nancy Pelosi
I’m writing once again to the beleaguered Democrats in the house facing down the wrath of leadership in their attempt to pass the health care destruction bill.
It’s not going to end anytime soon the way things are now. There isn’t any exit for you beyond the actual voter-induced exit in November, and that harridan Nancy Pelosi isn’t going to relent. Unless you make her relent because she loses the Speakership before November.
Yes, once again I’m an admitted conservative. Forget that and keep reading. You can always choose to disregard my advice later if you like your current arrangement.
If you don’t, here’s a modest proposal: ditch Nancy Pelosi. She’s led you to near ruin, and will certainly finish the job if you cave to her “leadership” and pass Obamacare. However, if she’s no longer your leader, this is something she won’t be able to do.
Now, whether the mechanisms to do this or not exist “within form” have no bearing on your current circumstances. You already know what happens next if the status quo leadership remains the same. You throw yourselves on your swords for the greater glory of a Speaker who is not at risk. Hardly fair or “noble” in any regard, and certainly relevant as she preaches the “greater good” this bill will not assist in any way.
Surely you can find, and then elect, a more competent leader among you? Is her popularity among your caucus not at a low? If not, perhaps some originality is called for on your part. For some concessions, your associates across the aisle might just be willing to help you vote out Pelosi and replace her with someone less…militantly utopian.
Either that, or enjoy your retirement. Those judge positions we all think Obama might be holding for you won’t matter if a single Republican Senator puts a blanket hold on them. They do have 41 votes now, after all, which will only increase after November. And the alternative recess appointments won’t last long.
The bottom line? Think outside the box, or bury your careers in one. Your choice.
Addendum, 3/8/2010: Think my proposal is far-fetched? Really? Are you sure you want these sorts of people in charge? Perhaps your leadership might grow some sense once you demonstrate that you’ll sacrifice them right back.
