Obama Announces Plan to Expand Oil Drilling Rhetoric

Obama has announced that he plans to expand offshore oil drilling.  By a lot.  However, when you take everything into account, this is completely meaningless.  In fact, the Democrats could have announced something like this in the Gang of 10 debacle without losing anything.

Oh, this is a great bit of propaganda.  It makes Obama look sensible and changes the subject after the Obamacare disaster to be.  However, as a practical measure, it’s completely worthless for two big reasons:

  1. You don’t need an outright ban if the government is run by a horde of leftist loons who make drilling costs prohibitive with overblown regulations, and…
  2. Vocal environmentalists and their lawsuits will hamstring any attempt to take advantage of this for years, a widely-known fact which will finish the job of preventing anyone from even trying to build rigs anywhere.

In short, it’s all empty words, a specialty of our current President.  This announcement only amounts to Obama’s plan to expand oil drilling rhetoric.  I’ll believe more when I see it, and no sooner.

My Faith in AGW Is Restored

After today’s news, what room is there for doubt?

The British House of Commons Science and Technology committee has cleared the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit of any wrongdoing.  In fact, it was so self-evident to them that it only took a day’s testimony for them to confirm it.  I mean seriously, people.  If you can’t trust a committee full of politicians who have a veritable gold mine of a power grab waiting if the Anthropogenic Global Warming scam regains its credibility, who can you trust?

The only thing that could possibly make my day any more complete is if “maverick” John McCain donned his not-so-secret environmental superhero identity, Captain Chipmunk, and added his weight to the committee findings.  He and his sidekick, the Pomeranian Lindsey Graham, could fly to the nearest press conference and chime in on this.  So put away your skepticism everybody.  We’re all watermelons now!

Lindsey Graham Still at Work on Amnesty

Well that whole Republican united front didn’t last long.

According to The Hill, Senate Republicans are still saying they can work with Democrats.  This is just lovely.  We’re trying to keep America from going down the socialist route, and pretty much on cue, the RINOs are folding again.

Lindsey Graham is still working with Chuck Schumer on immigration reform.  Or, for those of us that see through the eupherisms, amnesty and permanent socialist hell.  I guess he’s eager to follow in the footsteps of “maverick” John McCain despite the inconvenience to his mavericky owner.  Then again, he may be looking for a promotion from “Official Maverick Lapdog” to “Official Maverick” by being a pain during the primary process.  Two of them can’t be the MSM’s favorite Republican maverick.

Or maybe it’s just idle conjecture on my part.  I’m sure that whole thing where he’ll do McCain’s dirty work without harming His Maverick Highness will work out just fine.  Really.

And no, I don’t care that McCain has asked that the National Guard be sent to the Arizona border after the killing of a rancher there.  It’s a primary-season ploy, and no more.  He could have done this years ago under Bush if this was the case, and might have even succeeded in getting them.

But since he wants to bring up the subject, here’s how he really feels…

No RINOs, no exceptions, or we’ll see more of this in the future.

If You Ever Doubted The Democrat Craving for “Bipartisanship”…

If you ever doubted the Democrat craving for the cover of “bipartisanship,” Hot Air has a video that will give you one more reason to believe it.

Obama is being interviewed by a reporter and explaining that his health care disaster in the making was still bipartisan regardless of the fact no Republican voted for it.  He speaks at great lengths about how the Heritage Foundation supposedly loves some of the provisions in it, and all its similarities to Romneycare.  Not only will this particular interview likely end Romney’s electoral chances in 2012, but it demonstrates the Democrats’ motivations about bipartisanship in great clarity.

Democrats know they do damage.  They know it.  Since nothing they do is about anything but their own power, they don’t care.  However, if they take the blame for it, they lose said power.  So they absolutely need the cover of bipartisanship to limit the damage between the bouts of pain they inflict on America.

This is one of the big reasons to remove RINOs like “maverick” John McCain and Lindsey Graham from the Republican Party.  Despite voting conservative some of the time, they provide the Democrats with all the bipartisanship they can eat, and do so gleefully.  This not only gives the Democrats cover from their own damage, but gets liberalism blamed on conservatives and sets back any progress we might have made.

When your enemy can go to ground, take the ground away.  Removing the cover of bipartisanship is a big step in the rise of “you break it, you own it” as a political tactic against Democrats.  If they know they can’t get away with their tender mercies, they won’t be as inclined to inflict them.
