More Fun With Obamacare

doctorknotJust when you thought this single-payer Trojan horse couldn’t possibly get any better…it does:

  1. Obamacare, now with the proven effectiveness of price controls.  That’s in the version of Obamacare Obama is proposing after a year of not putting forth his own plan.  Think “Jimmy Carter era of fun with gas lines” and you’ll get some idea as to how this is going to affect health care.
  2. The CBO can’t score this new and improved bill by the 25th.  Basically, their line of explanation is “they put some new garbage on top of the old garbage and changed some of the existing garbage, which makes this bill a completely different brand of garbage.”  They were just less direct about it than I am here.

If this bill gets any better, it’s going to to drive me to drinking.

McCain Admits He’s a Dupe

moneythumbAs reported at Hot Air, McCain has said he was misled on TARP.  What an amazingly timed election-year epiphany.  And the sad thing about it is that admitting he was a dupe is the best way he could possibly spin his vote for this travesty.

How many of us were screaming that this bill wouldn’t be what everyone said it was?  How many of us knew it was wrong?  I know Michelle Malkin did.  I know a lot of other conservatives did, and long before me.  Yet we can’t listen to the conservatives, now can we O Mavericky One?  We’re all just drooling cavemen after all.

But I will take this moment to thank McCain for his contribution to the maverick paradigm today.  Even taken at face value, his “explanation” paints him as an economic illiterate who is easily misled, or even herded by panic, even after thirty years in Washington.  He certainly can’t state that he was being loyal to Bush after poking him and the rest of us in the eyes for eight years.

The only way he could possibly have made this any better is if he had it gift wrapped and hand-delivered to the J.D. Hayworth campaign as a pre-made attack ad.  Even so, I suspect Hayworth will have a field day with it.

A Few Words of Clarity for Senator McConnell

dive_elephantAs reported by The Hill, Senator McConnell isn’t sure if the GOP can block a vote to pass the health care “reform” bill through reconciliation.  Doesn’t that just inspire confidence?  Anyone?

This sounds like a good time for a few words of clarity for Senator McConnell.

I don’t know exactly what he’s thinking, but the Republicans can stop this bill.  They can just offer up amendments to it forever, and some Republicans are threatening to do just that.  I’m also aware that McConnell has stepped in and prevented other Republicans from doing things like forcing bills and amendments to be read in full in order to slow down legislation in the past.  That means this particular comment may well be him making excuses in advance of a “compromise” health care bill, or setting up an “out” after a token show fight against the current one.

Neither will help him.  If he thinks he has problems with the Tea Parties and people deserting the Republicans now, let this bill pass when we know you can stop it.  If that happens, McConnell and the Republicans will quickly get to know electoral hell.  It’ll probably take the form of a third party movement that no one will be able to squelch this time.  At the very least, it will take the form of a lot of people simply refusing to turn out in November due to morale loss.  If either happens, there goes the comeback.

No tricks.  No games.  No tokenism.  This bill is dead, and it needs to stay that way.  Do something original, McConnell, and actually try to win.

A Few Words for J.D. Hayworth

Dear Sir,

I’d like to take this opportunity to kindly advise you to find your political A-game.  As of last week.

I have no idea what the problem could be.  You are facing an opponent in the primary who can accurately be described as the best inside man the Democrats could ever hope to have in the Republican party.  He has a record since about 2000 or so that is completely indefensible, including

  • The anti-first amendment McCain-Feingold
  • Attempted amnesty with McCain-Kennedy
  • Attempted cap and tax with McCain-Lieberman
  • The TARP vote
  • …and a joke of presidential run where he attacked his own party more forcefully than he did the opposing candidate.

On top of this, he ignores his constituents, has a temper like an erupting volcano, and is a complete press addict.  He considered becoming a Democrat after the 2000 primaries and gave thought to being John Kerry’s running mate in 2004.  Furthermore, not only is he the RINO gold standard, but he’s actively recruiting RINOs in other states (Crist in Florida, Fiorina in California), and is directly responsible for turning at least one other worthwhile conservative into a mini-me of himself, namely Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

The fact the MSM loves him can be used against him.  The fact he fights his own party and base harder than the Democrats can be used against him.  The fact his name was first on a ton of awful liberal legislation can be used against him.  So where is it?

Now, granted that this much ammunition handed to you by an opponent might give you the impression that your race will be a cakewalk.  However, I would like to take this opportunity to point out that you’re in for a fight.  McCain desperately wants to retain his Senate seat, has lots of money, hates real conservatives enough to attack them viciously, and has Sarah Palin.  This means you have to get going, right now.

Get your campaign underway in earnest.  Don’t get caught up with Birther issues as was mentioned on RedState.  Learn to handle the hostile press.  Otherwise, McCain will defeat you soundly to the chagrin of many, and even six more years of continued relevance will be no comfort once he reverts to form.

Be in it to win it, or he will steamroll you.

Sincerely,

Ryan Ambrose, YankMcCain.com
