No jokes now, folks. It’s zero flak time.
As posted on Legal Insurrection, Coakley’s decided she’s going to pull out some of her big guns and advertise against Scott Brown. Since there are rumblings that the race is within single digits among the most likely voters, I’m not surprised. As she’s likely to use the “same-old, same-old” rhetoric, I doubt it will do her much good.
However, what I think in this regard doesn’t matter. You plan for the worst if you want to succeed, and it’s now time to back Scott Brown as though his victory depended on it. Chances are it does.
Coakley will all but certainly be a Democrat rubber stamp. Any assertions she makes to being anything remotely independent-minded in this regard will be a fiction. That’s an automatic 60th vote no matter what disasters the Democrats want to pass, and they want to pass many of them.
Brown, not so much. He may not be all conservative, but at the very least he should take notice of who helped get him elected, and which pack of establishment trash Republicans sat by and did nothing. He’s not going to stray too far off the “stop Obama” path.
