Where To From Here on Obamacare?

flag_dogIt’s all over the blogosphere.  Ben Nelson caves to a massive payoff from Reid for his cloture vote, which is basically that Nebraska no longer has to pay into Medicaid.  Nelson gibbered something about reserving the right to change his mind, but since it’s more or less meaningless if he votes for cloture, I’m not going to expand on it from here.

As far as the other side of this equation goes, RedState did some background work on Mitch McConnell and his leadership on stopping other legislative disasters.  They’ve found him wanting, and I agree.  He’s more or less what most of us already knew about Republicans:  The leadership is inept milquetoast.

But now for the big question:  Where to from here on Obamacare?

Well, for one, it would appear the Chinese don’t like it.  They’re making noises about not buying any more of our debt, though they’ve not come out and said it directly as of yet.  I can’t say as I’m surprised at this decision, when the guy at America’s helm right now is such a monstrous, brainwashed idiot.  And that’s on his good days.

Still, we’re not done here yet. If this bill gets through the Senate, they still have to reconcile it with the House.  Once that happens, the final compromise goes through the House and Senate again for a final vote.  Given that now even the left has problems with it, that’s another tough fight ahead for Pelosi and Reid.  Two more chances to kill this.

If it makes it and Obama signs it, expect one or more of the following:

  1. Court contests, including one to Nelson’s Medicaid payoff.  If nothing else, neither he nor his state should profit from this.
  2. Passive resistance.
  3. Protests, peaceful or otherwise.
  4. The start of a depression.  It could be that large chunks of Obama’s base will have to get by without being spoon fed, because there won’t be any money left.  Since a lot of them don’t know anything else, God help them.

And last but not least, I see whispers of blog commenters saying that even RINOs would be better than this in 2010.  We should back the Fiorinas and Kirks for various logical-sounding reasons.  My thought is that this would just put us back where we started, and so stand firm on shutting out the moderate trash.  They’d be just like the Specters, Snowes, and Nelsons, and thus worthless in any attempt to put the country back on track.

It’s not over yet.  Tomorrow is another day.

It’s a Nailbiter, Folks

doctorknotWe’re down to the wire on Disastercare.

At this point, I’m willing to say that even God has checked in on this.  Washington is going to get snow after Lieberman left town.  So the Democrat’s 60th vote on Disastercare may be snowed out.

And yes, I know this bill is a disaster.  I haven’t seen it or the CBO score, but I don’t have to see it.  You don’t do this kind of hiding, or schedule the vote for it on Christmas Eve/Christmas unless you don’t want anyone to know what’s in it.  Reid knows this will hurt and infuriate average Americans, but he doesn’t care because for him, the Democrats and their liberal ideology are all that matters.

As for Joe Lieberman?  My advice to him would be to enjoy the holiday with his family.  I sincerely hope he has a good one.  He should take all the time he wants and let the bill die.  It’ll ruin American health care, and it should die.  Besides, if the “benefits” won’t kick in until a few years even if it passes, it’s not like there’s a rush to decide on it, regardless of the rhetoric.

The Copenhagen Comedy Club

laughterYou couldn’t script better comedy than is going on in Copenhagen during the global warming summit.  Not only is the truth there stranger than fiction, it’s funnier too.  So today, it’s time for some humorous speedlinking.

Here are some highlights from the Copenhagen Comedy Club:

  1. Hillary Clinton made a $100 Billion dollar offer to help developing nations go green if China would cut emissions, hoping to produce a breakthrough in negotiations.  Strangely enough, China still isn’t really on board with this.  I suspect they know they’re going to be asked to loan us the $100 Billion.
  2. A blizzard put 4 inches of snow on the ground in Copenhagen overnight.  It might be Denmark’s first white Christmas in 14 years, and it happened during a global warming conference.  Personally, I take it as proof that God has noticed the global warming nonsense, and is currently mocking it.
  3. CFACT punks Greenpeace ships with banners labeled “Ship of lies” and “Propaganda Warrior”.  You’ve got to see this for yourself.
  4. And last but not least, Gore poetry.  Yep, Earth-friendly poetry from the Green Gopher himself.  Apparently, he has some free time in his quest to become a green billionaire.

Yes, it’s still a scam and a socialist wealth redistribution scheme.  But today, it’s funny.

Today’s Pitbull Award is for Senator Coburn

pitbullawardthumbI’m starting to wonder if I should call Oklahoma and ask if they have some extra Senators who wouldn’t mind coming to Virginia to Webb and Warner.

I’ve long since been impressed by Inhofe.  However, today’s Pitbull Award goes to Senator Coburn.  He’s the Oklahoma senator who decided to stall healthcare and expose Bernie Sanders’ socialism at the same time by getting the Senate to read Sanders’ latest single-payer health-care amendment in full.

Sanders pulled the amendment before it was finished.  It’s against the rules to do that but then again, they’re Democrats (and one socialist).  What did anyone expect?

Again, my compliments to Senator Coburn.  It’s been a while since I could give out a Pitbull Award, and he surely deserves recognition as the patriotic pitbull he was today.  I hope DeMint follows his example and carries through on his threat to have the whole bill read if it should survive the current support collapse it’s experiencing now.
