No jokes now, folks. It’s zero flak time.
I don’t know what the Republicans’ plan is for stopping Disastercare. In fact, a lot of people don’t seem to know. That would be a problem, especially if the Republicans want to, say, have a shot at being politically relevant ever again.
I’ve heard a few say they’re trying to improve Obamacare. It can’t be improved. It’s tantamount to saying “I’ll put a silk ribbon on a cow pattie, and that will make it a Christmas present. Great plan!” The entire premise of the bill is intended to give the US a single-payer system. That’s a disaster and a power grab waiting to happen, and there is no improvement on that.
If it’s to sway public opinion, it’s really not working. I’m a political junkie who reads the sites and blogs of even bigger and better political junkies with more time and resources to devote to their political-junkiehood. I read some on Redstate about the Republicans screwing up, but little anywhere else.
If the conservative mediasphere and fellow political junkies haven’t noticed that much from the Republicans, I guarantee the public at large hasn’t noticed anything. So that whole public opinion play, if that is the plan, isn’t working. Not surprising, since we’re talking about the Republicans. With a few noteworthy exceptions, they’ve earned the name Stupid Party
I recommend the Republicans get a grip. Immediately. Now is not the time for them to continue their status quo of “Oops, we lost again.” If they screw this up, they’re not coming back from it.
