Amateur Punditry for the Day
Yes, the elections are over, and it’s time to add to the pile of amateur punditry for today.
Hoffman lost the NY-23 race, which was disappointing but not wholly unexpected. It would seem DeDe’s 11th hour Democrat sellout did enough. That and the fact a few percent of the population still voted for her despite her having left the race and announced such. I don’t blame Hoffman, who did a phenomenal job given where he started in all of this.
The big loser in that race was the GOP. Not only did they further discredit the NRCC with already irritated conservatives by supporting DeDe Scozzafava, but one of those conservatives who wasn’t supposed to get anywhere came within a few percentage points of winning without them. Things like this weren’t supposed to happen.
My guess is that they won’t figure out that conservatives don’t like voting liberal, or won’t care, and do this again.
On a happier note, conservative (or at least more conservative than their opponent) candidates won in New Jersey and Virginia. I was glad to help with the McDonnell victory yesterday when I went out and voted for him. At this point, I suspect Webb and Warner will suddenly find some of the radical legislation in Congress is less to their liking than it once was.
Still no word about any of this from the inspiration of this happy little yank site. At least not on his web page as of this post. He’s still hitting that whole “Really, I’m a conservative! CONSERVATIVE!” riff hard though, if you want to go and visit him there for some strange reason.
