Jersey Politics

jerseyDede Scozzafava is a case of jersey politics.

I’m not talking about the state of New Jersey.  I’m talking about the sports jersey.  The kind sports teams of varying types wear to distinguish themselves from one another.  In this case, it’s the proverbial kind with the “R” and “D” on it.

According to some in the Republican Party, electing her is a matter of jersey politics.  She’s wearing the proper jersey for us conservatives, or so we’re told, and so we should support her.  Anything else is unthinkable, childish, narcissistic, anti-Reagan, or whatever technique they try to use to put us back into line.  To practitioners of jersey politics, nothing else matters.

The trouble is that politics is not a sport.

Sports are fine.  Everyone has their favorite teams, which they cheer on at games, and it’s all good fun.  At the end of the day, the scores are tallied and become part of a record.  While trophies and rings may be awarded, and athletes get their moments in the sun, nothing life-altering happens to the world at large.

In politics, this is very, very different.  It doesn’t matter if the people selling out to a bad bill wear one jersey or the other.  The damage is just as real, and some of it as long-lasting.  Lives can be altered and the country changed forever if a majority of our representatives have a bad idea, regardless of the distribution of that majority across the parties.

So no, Scozzafava is not good for conservatism or the country just because she wears the “R” jersey.  The principles, not the person or party, make the difference.  If she wins, goes to Washington, and votes the wrong way on everything, what good is the “R”?  The goal of majorities may be all the parties see, but the rest of us have to live in the mess they make if they don’t show any concern at all for their principles.

New Things to Blame

dive_elephantIf there’s one thing Democrats do well, it’s blame other people.

It never fails.  Someone asks why something is going down the drain on their watch, and they have someone to blame.  Why did the doctor bribe reported at Michelle Malkin fail?  The AMA is to blame.  Why are Obama numbers down in the dumps?  Fox News is to blame.  They don’t hesitate, they don’t care if it’s a non-sequitor, or have any shame.  When the Democrats absolutely, positively have to screw up something overnight, they’ll always have someone to blame.

Well, it’s time for some new things to blame.  I’ve offered this advice before, but now I’m going to go the extra mile to help out The One in his hour of need.  Don’t blame people, blame things.  They can’t fight back.

Try one of these…

  • The Black Plague:  Since his policies are going to have much the same effect on the country (politically and economically speaking) as The Black Plague did on Europe, Obama should blame it for America’s troubles.  Is a microscopic disease organism going to have the wit and charisma it takes to effectively refute it?  Of course not.  Plus, who likes the Black Plague?  Nobody, that’s who.
  • Mushrooms:  That’s right.  Those pesky mushrooms should have tried harder to make everyone just like them.  I mean seriously, who wouldn’t want to live in the dark and eat organic fertilizer?  If those stupid mushrooms could just sell their green lifestyle to the rest of America, Obama would be set.  In the meantime, he could just say they’re not real news organizations.
  • Cows:  We hate cows anyway.  They fart so much, they’re a major cause of global warming.  They’re used to make steak, which is bad for you.  And they just stand there like a…cow.  Besides, what are they going to do about it if Obama starts demonizing them?  Say “moo”?  It would be so much easier arguing with a cow instead of, say, Rush Limbaugh, who shreds liberals for fun on his radio show five days a week.

So, to reach across the aisle and help out the other side, here are my suggestions about what to blame for the disasters to come.  If he starts now, Obama could panic-monger his way back into office in 2012 by saying that mushroom-eating cows carrying the Black Plague will kill us all if the conservatives ever get back into power.

Step Up for Those That Stood Up to ACORN

flag_dogNo jokes now, folks.  It’s zero flak time.

There have been two huge instances of people standing up to the ACORN vermin, and they deserve a mountain of credit for it.

  • Anita Moncrief, former ACORN/Project Vote employee
  • James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles, and Breitbart.com and their ACORN stings.

Well, they’re under legal assault by ACORN for daring to expose them for what they really are.  You can read more about these farces for lawsuits at Michelle Malkin.  Fortunately, we can help now.

FightForAnita.com has a legal defense fund account for Moncrief, and Hannah, James, and Breitbart have defense fund links at BigGovernment.com.  They’re both going up in my blogroll, and they’ve gotten donations from me already.  We’ve been waiting a while for someone to put up a fight for us.  Now someone has, and they need our help.

Don’t “think about it”.  DO IT.  It’s time to step up for those that stood up to ACORN.

Addendum, 4/7/2010:  Good news.  The suits have been dropped against all three of them.

Fox News Preacheth Not the Obama Gospel

speechObama has gone on a tear against Fox News, and why not?  They preacheth not the Obama Gospel!

Truly, this unthinkable awfulness against The Obama as reported on The Powers That Be cannot go unanswered.  They dare speak the truth about the man!  A mere news organization reports facts about Obama, and isn’t conspicuous in their ridiculous fawning praise of him?!

Of course Fox News is not a real news organization!  Real news organizations are all…uh…news-ey and stuff.  They tell the news that Obama wants to hear, and only the news Obama wants to hear.  Truly, these Fox News types can’t measure up to the standards of objectivity approved by The One.  They are thus are not fit to have him speak of them from On High at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue over and over again.

It might boost their ratings and such.
