Does It Ever Occur to You…

think_boyLately, it doesn’t seem as though a lot of people are giving their actions any thought.

The biggest example of this is Gingrich and his support of Scozzafava in the NY-23 race.  What exactly did he hope to accomplish?  Scozzafava wasn’t even a good choice for that district, much less his party.  Her presence in this election at all was completely senseless.

In fact, there are quite a few reasons lately to ask any number of these political sorts “Does it ever occur to you…”

  1. Gingrich, does it ever occur to you that instead of lending credibility when you make an appearance with someone, you’re simply eroding your own for no good reason?  What did you think you would accomplish by being on a commercial with Pelosi?  Being seen with Sharpton?  That all of us mindless conservative rubes would simply follow along like the robots you apparently think we are, instead of thinking that you jumped the shark?
  2. Mislabeled Republicans aspiring to enter office under their banner:  Does it ever occur to you that you could be the next Scozzafava?  If she loses NY-23, that means the Republican party machine is now at war with its own moving parts, namely the money, manpower, and votes that constitute it from their own angry base.  No promises they make to you about how you’ll sail through an election will ever mean the same as it did before this mess.
  3. President Obama, does it ever occur to you that instead of your Chicago brand of thug politics cowing us all into submission, you’re just throwing rocks at a hornet’s nest?  You were the motivating force behind the formation of the Tea Party movement.  You were the reason ACORN became a huge target for us, and you are the reason we just keep on getting stronger and more organized.  Historically, we haven’t been a nation that backs down from its challenges, and the next challenge on our list is you.
  4. Mainstream media, does it ever occur to you that your obvious bias will reach a breaking point where you cease to exist?  How long before attempts to protect Democrats, or create self-fulfilling prophecies for them as the Washington Post attempts with Disastercare finally get old enough to bankrupt you?  You’re going to have to choose between them and your self-preservation someday.  I suspect it’s someday soon.

Times, they are a’changing.  It might be time for some of those people I mentioned to start wondering if those changes might not be so good for them if they continue the way they have been.
