So Predictable It’s Barely Newsworthy

In breaking not-news:  Snowe votes like a Democrat for Disastercare.  She’s the only mislabeled Democrat (aka Republican) who voted with the properly labeled ones to move the bill out of committee.  It was so predictable it’s barely newsworthy.

The part of this that is newsworthy is that this disaster is one step closer to becoming a reality.  Thank you so much, Senator Snowe.  Now the Democrats can scream “bipartisanship” when it comes time to hold someone to account for the damage this legislation will do.

The countermove, if the Republicans had any nerve or brains, would be to take the “bipartisan” away from the Democrats.  They could do this by evicting Snowe from their caucus, preferably publicly and without informing her first.  They would energize what was left of their base and possibly make some headway in 2010.  It’s not as though they currently hold her seat except in name, so it wouldn’t be like they were losing it.

Yes, it’s wishful thinking, but one can dream.
