Happy Halloween, Republicans

dive_elephantDede Scozzafava has dropped out of the race in NY-23, per Robert Stacy McCain.  Unlike the inspiration for this blog, he deserves actual credit and respect, and not the maverick variety.  Enjoy the moment but remember that there’s still work to be done, especially since the left wing blogosphere seems to be dusting off the standard-issue demagogics for Hoffman now.

Happy Halloween, Republicans.  Welcome to the nightmare you brought upon yourselves.  All you had to do was be who you said you were in the Bush administration, and you wouldn’t be at this juncture now.  Instead, it’s become so bad you get to choose between your blue-blood, country club instincts and your survival.

Have fun with that.

The endorsements are rolling in for Hoffman now.  From this point onward, it’s safe to attribute them to a bunch of garden-variety politicians trying to make nice with a voting block that they can no longer take for granted.  Either that, or people climbing on the bandwagon.  Insofar as they help get Hoffman elected, great.  As indicators of where some of their hearts actually lie, not so much.

I haven’t heard anything from the Republicans’ auspicious party leader yet.  However, I suspect even John McCain will say something in the end to try and mitigate the fact this backhand to his party occurred on his watch.  With the help of his own vice-presidential candidate, who sincerely deserves a lot of credit for this.

Once again, Happy Halloween, Republicans.  If you’re not careful, every day could look like this one, until your political relevance ends.

Math The Obama Way

teleprompthumbCBS of all things has found that Obama’s “jobs saved/created by the stimulus” assertions are a bit off.  Off enough that a normally loyal news organization would question them on it.  You can read more about it at Sister Toldjah.

That’s math you can believe in, just so long as you don’t actually believe in it.

Seriously, what if everything worked like Math the Obama Way…

  • If I don’t actually do anything when I’m at work, does that mean I’ve saved or created my project?
  • If someone gets fired and no one is around to hear it, does that mean it’s a job that’s saved or created?
  • Or more importantly, if we spend $786 Billion dollars of stimulus and nothing happens, which seems likely, will more jobs be “saved” than “created”?  Better yet, can we not “save” or “create” the jobs of the losers that voted for it?

Real math works far better than Obama math for everyone.  So how about we get rid of the non-stimulus stimulus and actually put the country back on track with real numbers?

Crist in a Twist

rhinoRedState has been following some interesting developments with Crist regarding a Rubio attack site that probably shouldn’t have been posted.

From the report so far, this site, truthaboutrubio.com…

  1. May have stepped on a few feet too many when they posted it, like the news sources they used and election law.
  2. Was really annoying when I went to visit it.  They thanked RedState for the attention as of this post.  Expect their snarky gratitude to wane if the FEC or any of the news sources from which they “excessively borrowed” come calling.

Suffices to say, Crist is in a twist.  Not only is he looking at the real possibility of a loss to Rubio, but he can’t do better than this half-baked attempt at an attack site.  A site which may well wind up getting him into a boatload of trouble with a botched mudslinging campaign.

By the way, the over-tanned twit deserves thanks for bringing a whole bunch of attention to Rubio.  He was closing on Crist quickly before that little attack bungle helped give him just that much more attention.  Not to mention Crist’s potential base is sick of stupid RINO tricks.  Just to help pile on because of it, here’s the link to Rubio’s site, marcorubio.com.

I don’t even live in Crist’s state, and I’m not going to miss him when he’s gone.

Yet Another Definition of Free Speech Suppression

salesmanNo jokes now, folks.  It’s zero flak time.

As reported at Michelle Malkin, another definition of free speech suppression has arisen:  “media justice”.  Paired up with the standard-issue refrain of “hate speech”, it’s an attempt by various liberal churches to try and silence conservatives on the issue of illegal immigration.

I can’t say I’m much surprised.  Apparently, someone wants to lead the next charge for amnesty by first silencing those responsible for its last defeat, and that of the last party championing it, the Republicans.  Smart, in a Machiavellian sort of way, but free speech suppression nonetheless.

This isn’t about hate speech or justice of any kind.  It’s about
“all liberal, all the time” with no opposition.  It’s another power play with a pretty name so that the left can create another voting block out of illegals.  They can’t just come out and say that, though.  It’s always some sweet-sounding propaganda line to mask the true intention.

Today, it’s “media justice”.
