The Republicans Are Worth Reincarnating

airplaneYes, you read that correctly.  Not rebuilding, but reincarnating.

The reason I say reincarnating is because the Republicans are not worth rebuilding.  The Republicans as they were under Bush were a complete waste, and ultimately led to an Obama administration.  All he’s going to manage for us is a rude awakening for many, and a boatload of pain for everyone who already knew better than to support him.

It’s not the first time they went mushy and self-destructed either.  It seems to be a never-ending sequence with them.  When the Republicans are in power, they try in vain to appease liberals in an attempt to silence them, which causes them to betray their voters and capitulate.  Their voters then get mad and desert them, which costs them power.  Once the Republicans have lost, the Democrats take a few huge steps in the direction of socialism.  The country gets mad and re-elects Republicans, and it all starts all over again.  Lather, rinse, and repeat.

The end result of this cycle is creeping socialism.  Here lately, it’s been galloping socialism.  Worse still, even if the Republicans get back into power, there’s no assurance whatsover that they won’t just go mushy again if they remain the same.  That’s where the reincarnation part of this comes into play.

For the Republicans to be worth supporting, they have to become a genuine conservative opposition party.  Once it’s that way, we take steps to keep it that way.  They’re already showing signs of walking in that direction again, though I’m certain it’s because they’ve realized us conservatives do have someplace to go:  to ourselves.

So now it’s time to finish the job.  We’ve already removed large piles of dead wood from their ranks in 2006 and 2008.  We have a chance to maverick the RINO poster child out of his career in 2010.  And with the Tea Party movement in full swing, we have the protesting might to keep the Republicans in line once they do regain power.

So while I haven’t ruled out replacing them with a new second party should all else fail, I’ll stick to my original conclusion.  The Republicans are worth reincarnating, if only because it’s logistically less difficult to attempt this first rather than starting from scratch.  Just don’t rule out replacing them yet.
