But We Have to Doooooooo Something!
I’ve been hearing a lot of this from Obama lately with regards to health care. Of course, it’s not limited to the Democrats. RINOs like the Official Maverick Lapdog Lindsey Graham (Pomeranian – SC) used a variation of it as a defense when we were all calling him on the Gang of 10 energy initiative backstab. It’s either “We have to do something!” or “Well, we managed to accomplish something!” even if they only managed to stack more tokenism and paper on top of the same old status quo.
Apparently, I’m supposed to feel guilty because I complained about the fact they did “something”. I think that’s the tactic anyway. In any case, it’s logic only a Congresstwit could possibly embrace.
“Something” is not a worthwhile purpose in and of itself. In fact, there’s a lot of “somethings” you can do that would be worse than nothing. Unless of course, you’re a Congresstwit attempting to pretend that just because they passed legislation that did the generic “something”, regardless of how bad that “something” is, they deserve to retain their jobs.
How can doing “something” be bad? How about an example “something” to demonstrate. Let’s say I decided to smash a glass tea pitcher with my forehead and then did it. At this point, three things have occurred.
- I did “something”, but
- It really hurts, and
- I didn’t accomplish anything worthwhile.
Furthermore, if someone was there to watch me smash a glass tea pitcher with my forehead, they would probably think I was a complete idiot. But by the logic used by the Democrats and RINOs like The Official Maverick Lapdog Lindsey Graham (Pomeranian – SC), I would be a hero. I did “something”, and all “somethings” are grand events in their daft little worlds.
You, on the other hand, probably have the good sense to realize that if I actually smashed a glass tea pitcher with my forehead, I should be committed.
But back to my point. No, we don’t have to do “something” to fix our problems. We have to do the right thing. If what we do isn’t the right thing, we have to rework the solution until we get the right thing. And most of all, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. That “something” some politician is attempting may not be any more than a power grab.
