The Blue Dogs Blunder Health Care

By Ryan • on July 29, 2009

doctorknotI can’t say this is a real shock. The Blue Dog Democrats, who like to assert that they’re the more “moderate” members of their party, have reached a deal with the rest of the Democrats on health care. The changes in this “compromise” may as well be cosmetic.  Kind of like that whole Blue Dog label.

Let me sum it up for them again. If this bill passes and hits this country like a tidal wave…

  1. If they voted for it, they’re toast.
  2. Their excuses won’t mean much to their constituents.
  3. The finer points of their “compromise” with the rest of their party won’t fly much either.
  4. No one will care if they were bullied into submission.
  5. No one will have forgotten about it, because the misery these Democrats cause over this won’t have gone away by 2010 or possibly in anyone’s lifetime.
  6. They won’t just be making people miserable, which tends to be what Democrats do best.  They may well be killing people this time.
  7. Which Republicans voted for it won’t make a difference. A lot of us don’t see the Republicans as conservative any longer, so lame attempts at hiding behind the “bipartisanship” argument won’t matter much.

If they think they’re hearing sob stories now, wait until people have to bury infants or grandparents because the quality and availability of health care in this country went through the floor.  Of course, I’m sure their friends in the press will happily turn a blind eye to it.

You may already be a loser.
