It Begins In Iran

No jokes now, folks.  It’s zero flak time.

Gateway Pundit reports that the basij in Iran is suppressing those who are protesting Iran’s “election” results.  This includes the use of clubs and tear gas.  I’m expecting that strongly worded letter from Obama any time now, presuming he even bothers to notice this at all without being pressured to do so.

Any of you astroturfing professional street agitators out there should click through the link and take a look at them.  This is what real people standing up against real danger looks like.  No well-trained, restrained police who are ordered to let you protest even if you get violent, no pity from the Iranian government, and no support from the rest of the world.  Just a lot of backbone and a real fight for their rights.  In other words, real courage.

Iran, You’re In For a Rough Ride

No cartoons today.  Just an open letter to those in Iran who’ve had enough.

Dear Iran,

I wish we could help you now.  I do.

Unfortunately, we’re experiencing some political difficulties.  Our new President is much like Carter.  If you remember, he’s the one who got you into the mullah mess in the first place.  And while I can give you my solidarity and the hopes you may rid yourselves of the mullah loons, I’m just a private citizen and can’t speak to anything more.

What I can tell you is that all you’re going to get from Obama is some half-hearted rhetoric which will be defended by terms like “deeper wisdom“.  Perhaps he’ll send your leaders a strongly-worded letter full of angry-sounding syllables backed up by a threat of yet another strongly-worded letter.  Those of us who think something else is in order can expect the usual assorted liberal arrogance and condescention.

Sadly, if you are relying on him to ride in with the armed forces and overthrow your lunatic government, I can say with great certainty that you’re in for disappointment.  A lot of it, because Obama’s brand of politics are in ascendancy right now.  I don’t enjoy telling this to you, but it’s the truth.

The bottom line to all of this is simple.  You’ll have to rid yourselves of your vermin.  Furthermore, you will have to do it soon.  If they get the nuclear bomb, they’re apocalyptic enough to use it.  When that happens, all understanding of your plight will cease in a hurry.  There won’t be a “good Iranian” and “bad Iranian” distinction once the shooting starts.  Or worse still, the fools use it on the Israelis, and they rain down hell on you in retaliation.

You’ve had thirty years.  Now you have another chance to end this for good.  Don’t waste it.

I’m Trying Something New With the Comments

Just an announcement, happy YankMcCain.com visitors.

I’m testing a new comment policy.  Previously, I was part of the spam filter and had to approve comments, but otherwise I didn’t mind what was posted (see the “You’re an idiot” comment if you don’t believe me).  I think that’s keeping people away though.  So I’m changing to open commenting and trackbacks.  All you have to do is post, and it’s there.

Just a few rules and things you should know first:

  1. Avatars are allowed, but PG or less only.  I don’t want to see naked pictures of you or your goldfish.  We do not do goldfish porn here on YankMcCain.com
  2. You will have to give me a name and email address.  It doesn’t have to be your real name though.  I don’t share them with anyone.  Period.
  3. Do not Speak The Profanity in Loud Tones.  If you do, I’ll delete your comment.  Only the Master Maverick may Speak The Profanity in Loud Tones, and you are not worthy.
  4. If you have more than one link in your comment, it goes into moderation.  If I think it’s spam, I delete it.
  5. If your trackbacks are spam, I delete them.
  6. If you break any of these rules, or trackback to any site that does, the comment gets deleted.
  7. In fact, I reserve the right to delete any comment or trackback for any or no reason without notice because I’m the sole arbiter of my site’s comment short of a court order.  However, unless you’re a spammer or do not allow McCain his exclusive due to Speaking The Profanity in Loud Tones, I’ll almost certainly leave it alone.  I don’t care if you disagree with me or compliment me in codespeak (read the FAQs if you don’t know what that means).

Obama Getting The Blame He Deserves

I need some good news tonight, and thankfully, Pundit & Pundette provided it.

According to the polls they aggregated, Americans are starting to hold Obama accountable for the economy.  Personally, I think they should.  He’s spent tons of money, stuck his fingers into everything, and is trying to turn us into a European socialist state overnight.  You’d better believe he’s accountable for this economy and the mess it’s about to become.

That’s because if he’s successful, a lot of people are going to know very real hard times for the very first time.  And unlike recessions, liberal economic disasters never go away.  Ask Michigan, New York, and California about that.

And before you complain, I know Bush got the ball rolling on this.  The fact he gave Obama all the pretext he needed to go headlong down the socialist road is not lost on me.  It’s the reason I’ll never see a RINO as the lesser evil again.  But Bush didn’t do it all.  He didn’t propose the second stimulus, or the Socialist Motor Twins “solutions”, or any of the other liberal disasters waiting for America.  Obama did, and their predictable failures are all his fault.
