Gore Goes to Congress

Some Democratic lawmakers aren’t thrilled with cap-and-trade.  It would raise the cost of energy and living on their constituents, and that is by design.  That means any of their opponents can call them on the fact that they voted to make everyone’s life more miserable for no good reason.  This is making a few sensible Democrats reluctant to hang themselves, figuratively speaking.

What to do?  Send in Al Gore.

I’m sure he’ll whip those pesky Democrats in line in no time.  He’ll fly into town in his eco-friendly private jet, limo right on over to Capital Hill, and berate all of his un-green fellows into submission.  It shouldn’t take more than a few waves of his politically-motivated Nobel Peace Prize and free copies of his Inconvenient Truth DVD.

And if he’s successful, we’ll get to enjoy forced conservation through high energy prices and another body blow to our economy.  So all you Democrats, fall into line.  Grab your ankles and take it in your careers, baby!  Al Gore needs to be relevant!

I’m Not Surprised. I Want To Be, But I’m Not

How’s this for a Democrat moment?  Up until now, Obama sounds non-committal this entire time on Iran.  Then, his advisors credit his Cairo speech for inspiring the protesters.  I’m not surprised.  I want to be, but I’m not.

This is absolute classic Democrat.  Take credit for other people’s efforts.  Clinton did this a lot when the then-Republican Congress at one time had sense and started doing things that were good for the country.  Now Obama’s advisors are saying the revolt in Iran is all about Obama and his “awe-inspiring” speech.

And yes, I know about the McCain speech, since we’re on the topic today.  I saw his remarks about Neda in a YouTube video.  No, I’m not going to give him any credit.  He knew what Democrats were all about before he got mad at their response on Iran.  He lived through the Carter administration.  And despite it all, he still spent eight years giving them everything he could because it made his base, the media, happy.  He is among the primary reasons there is an Obama presidency.  Now he’s complaining?  Sorry, no kudos for him here.

No jokes now, folks.  It’s zero flak time.

Hey, Mr. Nuanced-and-Sophisticated President Obama:  Here’s what an Iranian thinks.

You know, a real Iranian.  Not a nutcase who wants to self-detonate for Allah.  Someone who actually wants a live in a country that won’t make his life hell.  A guy who, quite sensibly, asks Obama “Will a wise man give a sharp dagger to an insane person?”  If Obama was a wise man, the answer would be “no”.

Do something original for a Democrat, President Obama.  Stop thinking with your liberalism, and get rid of these loons now.  We’re likely to pay heavily for it if you don’t.

Arizona Considers Defending It’s Borders

The federal government certainly isn’t going to do it.

The Arizona legislature is considering a law aimed at illegals crossing the borders and caught trespassing.  It’s attracted the usual bevy of “racial profiling” and “states can’t enforce federal laws” perfunctory rhetoric.  In other words, we have to let the illegals just keep pouring into the nation.

I haven’t heard a word from the Master Maverick on this yet.  Still, I’ll take another shot at amateur punditry and say he’s not going to infuriate his home state with maverick antics on amnesty until after he’s re-elected.  He’ll have four years of eye-poking fun after that, until the next time he has to pretend he’s not a Democrat again.
