Geither: Multinational Comic Genius

By Ryan • on June 1, 2009

It would be great, too, if he wasn’t our Treasury Secretary.

Geithner went to our piggy bank, aka China, to assure them that the US is still a safe investment.  They had the same reaction I would have had if I was in their shoes:  they laughed at him.  What’s really sad about it is that their humor at his assessment is one of the few light moments our country has had since Obama took over.

Am I supposed to be outraged?  The Chinese have it right.  That’s why we have the Tea Party movement here.  That’s why I’m going to be at the next one on the 4th of July.  And for all this incident’s mirth, having a multinational comic genius running our Treasury Department isn’t going to get us anywhere.

He asked me if I knew what time it was -- I said yes, but not right now.
