The Fast Track to Socialized Medicine

The fact the Democrats are in such a rush to pass their health care overhaul, i.e. a government takeover of the health care industry, does not give me confidence in their bill.  I suspect they know as well as I do what will happen when the government takes over health care, because it’s happened in other countries before ours.  So, they rush the finer details through Congress to get around all that pesky sunshine and the whole public knowledge and support thing.

Here’s the short version.  They want to put their health care bill through the Senate under a “reconciliation” measure, which is Congress-speak for “screw the minority party and stifle debate”.  Of course, that means that when they send health care in this country down the tubes, they’ll be the only ones to blame for it.  By then, though, it will be too late, because everyone will be on the dole, and it will be nearly impossible to repeal.

Big government is big trouble.  It’s just that simple, and even the Democrats know it now.  They wouldn’t be doing stuff like this otherwise.

$30 Billion More Wasted on AIG

Just what we need, more AIG bailouts.  As though we haven’t given them enough money just yet, the Treasury gave them $30 Billion more.  Oh, but they were nice enough to remove the $165 million in AIG bonuses they previously approved and then pretended to oppose.

I don’t suppose someone in a position of authority with a brain, and I know they’re scarce, can tell me where we’re getting all of this money?  Last time I checked, the deficit this year was well over a TRILLION DOLLARS.  And did I mention Treasury Gives Nearly $30B More to AIG Rescue Plan (Fox News)?

Why Do I Not Like the Sound of the Cybersecurity Bill?

Why am I not liking the sound of this “cybersecurity” bill?  Could it be that it’s not well-defined?  Is it possible that it’s only two sponsors are rabid liberals?

You know, liberals.  The only enemy force on Earth they acknowledge is conservatism.  Muslim terrorists?  Nope.  China?  Just a piggy bank.  Russia?  They’re sure their recent actions are our fault.  Conservatives, and by extension all conservative presence on the Internet?  The bane of all human existence.

Suffices to say, I’m not pleased.  It also suffices to say the Republicans are not going to put up much of a fight against this one.  A handful of them might, but the rest?  No.

The UN and the Climate Change Exchange

Why am I not surprised that a climate change exchange board from Chicago has members with shady backgrounds?

It gets better though.  Not only are five of them present or former U.N. officials, one of them received money from a convicted South Korean lobbyist involved in the Oil for Food scandal.  They’re involved in selling carbon offsets, and for all we know, might get some input into designing the US Cap and Trade disaster waiting to happen.

I’d love these times if I didn’t hate them so much.
