It’s McCain-Feingold All Over Again

By Ryan • on March 4, 2009

It’s good to see McCain has regained his temper and is again getting along with his fellow Democrats Russ Feingold and Barack Obama.  He’s co-sponsored a bill to give Obama the line-item veto in hopes of building the fiction that he’s a fiscal conservative.  After the TARP vote and eight years of maverick goodness, he’s just as brazen as ever.

What a politician.

What can Obama do with the line-item veto?  He can selectively remove Republican amendments from bills, including all the pork it took to get them to vote for it.  And of course, McCain is going to help them shaft all of those unpleasant conservative types.  He’s been doing it for eight years, and there’s no point in him stopping now.

He’ll claim it’s all about reducing earmarks, which are a negligible component of spending compared to the real problems like entitlements and bailouts.  But how bad could McCain and Feingold really be together?  Their campaign finance reform worked out so well.  For Obama.
