The GOP is Growing Some Sense?

The Republicans look like they’re going to attack the $825 Billion stimulus package after all.

This is a first.  Not once in eight years have the Republicans posed any significant opposition to spending, and in fact were responsible for a lot of it.  Now, they’re opposing a spending plan?  Maybe they’re growing some sense after all.

Still, not to worry.  I’m sure this little road bump to their usual behavior is nothing the Master Maverick can’t undermine, and look good preening into a camera lens in the process.

Maverick Open Thread, 1/17/09

Well, I don’t have any thoughts on all the fun in the news right now.  So, I’d like to know what you think on:

  • The Inauguration
  • Obama’s policies
  • George Bush’s Presidency.  Any point of view is welcome to comment on it, but remember that only the Master Maverick is allowed to Speak the Profanity in Loud Tones.  I won’t approve your comments unless you keep to this, or you have his permission =).
  • Mavericky goodness in your local politicians

Don’t worry about the fact I have to approve comments.  I’m just a spam filter, and enforcer of the “no Speaking the Profanity in Loud Tones” rule.  Unless you’re way out of line, I’ll probably approve it.

A Taste of Things to Come for America

Want a taste of things to come for a liberal-dominated country?  How about California?

This state has been run by unrestricted liberalism.  Arnold was supposed to change that, but didn’t.  Now, the state is paying tax refunds, welfare checks and student grants with IOUs, and I have no sympathy for them whatsoever.  We’ve been screaming the fixes for this at them from the tops of our lungs for years, and they ignored us because we were all EEEEEEVILE conservatives.

California has been the model for a slow-motion liberal self-destruction, and news gets touchier.  That’s because the same kinds of people who have run California into the ground now have control of THE US GOVERNMENT.  That’s especially true of Obama.

Yes, Obama is riding high right now.  Hope and Change gets his unprecedented $150 million inauguration plans, and so far everyone likes him.  Even the Republicans are rolling over for him.  But California is the biggest hint yet as to what may be coming under his glorious rule.  Not only is he the same kind of liberal as those who are destroying California, but he can throw his reach across the entire country because of the Democrats’ virtually uncontested control of Congress.

Hope you like interesting times, because we’re about to get some.

Who’s to say he didn’t know this would happen?  Country first indeed.
