Are There Not Enough Backhands in the World?

By Ryan • on January 5, 2009

Not even two electoral backhands are enough to to take the maverick out of the Republicans.

After losing an election by supporting a bailout package, Mitch McConnell says that Obama’s new stimulus package could receive significant Republican support if the Democrats allow for Republican input. I’m sure that input would be just as effective as it was with The Gang of 10, The Gang of 14, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, cap-and-trade, and all the other great accomplishments of maverick Republicanism.

I cannot help but to admire such durable maverick principles. Bailouts are already demonstrated to be unpopular, not to mention worthless, but the Republicans don’t care. They’ll just stick with the same go-along-to-get-along Democrat lite politics that worked so well for them in 2006 and 2008, and the ordinary conservatives can go eat cake. In 2010, those ordinary conservatives will return the favor, and the Republicans will wonder why.

And people wonder why I’m a maverick conservative.

Michelle Malkin has the perfect animation for this, but I don’t think she’ll let me use it.
