McCain Votes to Maverick Capitalism

By Ryan • on October 2, 2008

It’s the biggest mavericking McCain has ever pulled.

Last night, McCain voted for the $700 Billion dollar bailout.  Among other things, it doesn’t fix the underlying causes of the problems it supposedly adresses, gives money to foreign banks, and lets the Treasury secretary buy up bad mortgages to “unclog” the credit crunch, effectively socializing the mortgage industry.  74 other Senators agreed with him, in fact, including McCain’s fellow Democrat, Obama.

He gave the usual speech about “bipartisanship being tough” as though his taking the path of least resistance ever is, but truly, he has outmavericked himself.  He’s mavericked his own party while Speaking The Profanity in Loud Tones at them, but never the entire country at once.  The kind of effort it takes to maverick capitalism tops even the effort he made to reward lawbreakers with the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill.

Furthermore, he did this four weeks out of an election.  A lesser observer might state that he just mavericked himself out of the Presidency, but they don’t understand his incomprehensible brilliance like I do.  I’m sure it’s all some master plan to win by alienating his entire base while doing nothing more than burning $700 Billion dollars on a problem it won’t fix.  I’ll let you know the details just as soon as I determine them.
