It’s Time for a Tea Party

In the truest spirit of a maverick supporter, that of being the opposite of an ordinary supporter, I present to you an opportunity to join other maverick supporters of John McCain at a tea party.

Yes, even maverick supporters like tea every once in a while, and others are joining me in the cutting edge paradigm of the 21st century by engaging in maverick activism in the proper manner.

McCain Pretends to Be a Maverick Reformer to a Tee

McCain made a magnificent speech yesterday to start off the campaign season, and he covered all of the bases.  He:

  • Praised his fellow Democrats, Obama and Clinton.
  • Spoke in conservative platitudes to keep his ordinary conservative supporters in line.
  • Then, he poked his fingers in their eyes with talk of global warming and attacks on the Katrina response.
  • Stated he was criticized by the press and his fellow Democrats, which I haven’t seen in eight years.
  • Said he would work with his fellow Democrats, whom he praises and presumes to be reasonable people under all circumstances.
  • Said he would work with Republicans, whom he scorns every chance he gets, much as he did when he Spoke The Profanity in Loud Tones at them during the immigration debate.
  • Ended with maverick reformer rhetoric.

It was a masterstroke.  He looks so much farther above the fray than he actually is, even though he would do anything for the puff press he rightfully deserves.  All those ordinary supporters will eat this up, and see him as the Maverick Reformer he wishes them to see.  Marvel at his speechmaking, fellow student of the Master Maverick, and realize you are not fit to sing the alphabet song in his presence to honor his mastery of the spoken word.

Addendum:  I like to follow in the footsteps of the Master Maverick, and reach across the political spectrum to other maverick supports.  Therefore, enjoy this moment of statemenlike brilliance, brought to you by one of McCain’s maverick admirers from the other side.

McCain Actually Campaigning against Obama

It’s come to my attention that lately, McCain has actually started campaigning against his fellow Democrat, Obama.

Now, many of you might think this particular bit of infighting between fellow Democrats is perfectly normal.  After all, McCain has an “R” in front of his name, and is technically a member of the Republican Party.  Still, this triviality hasn’t stopped McCain from being a Democrat for the past eight years or so, and knowing this, his current behavior might cause you some confusion.

So I’ll remind you of the first and foremost maverick tenet once again:  “It’s all about me”.  To McCain, it’s all about him being President, all about his puff press, and in general, all about him.  Obama is standing between him and the Presidency, and because of this, has violated maverick tenet #1.  Therefore, the Master Maverick is heaping scorn on him, fellow Democrat or not.

Don’t worry.  The Master Maverick doesn’t need a laxative, as this humble and slightly overwhelmed maverick student first believed.  He’s simply following the path he’s treaded for so long, and I was wrong not to see this off the bat.
