Yes, John McCain believes the country is still right of center politically.  He thinks there would be stark differences between a liberal Democrat and a conservative Republican this year.  Fortunately for the Master Maverick, he doesn’t have to deal with such differences, because he doesn’t possess the attributes of a conservative Republican with which he might otherwise be burdened.

Can you imagine it?  A big, bright right of center country just ready to be annoyed into the maverick paradigm by John McCain.  Everyone pulling out their hair as he’s sworn in as President, and becomes identical to the Democrats from his first day.  He will create legions of maverick supporters stretching as far as the horizon, and far more than this poor, humble, and slightly overwhelmed student of his maverick greatness.

It’s going to be utopic.
