McCain Actually Criticizes a Democrat on Judges

McCain took a moment and actually bothered to criticize Obama on judges, which is sure to help him attract more ordinary supporters he can annoy once he gets elected.  Read about it here.

Still, most of those potential ordinary supporters will have forgotten “The Gang of 14″, where McCain helped the Democrats retain their right to filibuster in exchange for allowing cloture on some of Bush’s moderate justice choices.  These sorts of justices have historically become like Souter over time, so it wound up becoming like the rest of McCain’s ‘compromises’ with the Democrats.  McCain gets his puff press, the Democrats get everything they want, and the Republicans get to take the fall.

I especially like the touch about the comment that no one on his side is complaining “now that the numbers have reversed”.  Since most of the people in his party suspect he was a significant cause of the Republican’s new minority status anyway, he’s doing his tireless maverick best to create still more maverick supporters to use in his incomprehensibly brilliant plan to win the presidency by annoying everyone.

Furthermore, if the Democrats decide they don’t like Republicans filibustering their nominees, chances are they won’t be remotely reasonable about it, and their members will vote to change the rules whether the Republicans like it or not.  Since I’m not going to mention that filibustering nominees wasn’t constitutional in the first place, no one will mind the fact that all the Master Maverick accomplished was to build his maverick credentials at the expense of his own party yet again.

Still, my hero and idol has the nerve to criticize Obama about his justices, probably because he’s rested from eight years of not criticizing any Democrat while in the Senate.  He doesn’t care that he complained about a judge like Alito, say, wearing his conservatism on his sleeve.  It doesn’t matter that with a little thought, someone might come to the conclusion that the kinds of justices he says he wants would strike down McCain-Feingold, and would thus be opposed by the Master Maverick.  That means he’ll be appointing Souters instead of Ginsbergs, and not Scalias.

Despite it all, the wishful thinking will kick in, and a few more believers will become ordinary supporters until he annoys them into becoming maverick supporters with his tireless maverick efforts.  Can you still wonder why this One-Man Force of Irritating Nature is my hero?  Read and comment in awe.
