A Massive Medley of McCain Maverickness
McCain has been so mavericky recently, I just can’t ignore it. It’s a massive medley of maverickness so boundlessly, brilliantly bountiful I have to mention it all in one post because it’s too much to break up.
Where to begin?
- In response to North Carolina’s refusal to pull their Reverend Wright ad, McCain said he thought the NC Republican Party was out of touch with reality and was bringing pressure to bear on them. He’s also invoked the names of Ronald Reagan, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln in this matter. McCain shouldn’t even stoop to mentioning their names, because he’s far more mavericky than they’ve ever been. Truthfully, he is so much his own mavericky maverick that his future administration wouldn’t bear any resemblance to theirs in any possible way, including historical consequence.
- McCain says he wouldn’t make the same mistakes in anything like a New Orleans disaster that Bush did, and completely failed to mention the mistakes of the other party in the local and state leadership. True to mavericky form, he demonstrated again that he’s more than willing to bash his own party and leave the Democrats out of it. Still, don’t even dare call him the Other Democrat. We all know he’s an independent maverick, even if he’s just a pre-McGovern Democrat with an “R” in front of his name, and you’re an extremist idiot if you don’t think so.
- In response to a question regarding having a 527 campaign for him, McCain stated he would like all 527’s not be involved in the 2008 election. The fact that the Democrats will probably not heed this call doesn’t bother me in the least. Not to worry, my hero and idol. I would never dream of starting a 527 to campaign for you. Ever.
Whew. How does he fit all of his maverickness into a single day? This humble and slightly overwhelmed maverick student couldn’t tell you.
